Did you know that strong muscles lead to strong bones and strength training helps build and maintain muscle mass and strength? If you think that as a woman you can focus entirely on cardio, you are wrong!
If you are fearful of lifting weights in a gym, then consider starting a fitness routine at home first. Once you get comfortable with it, you can move to the gym (or not). Keep reading for some tips on how to start your fitness journey at home today, if you have any equipment or not.
How Long Do You Want to Work Out and When?
The first thing to figure out would be your schedule and how you can fit your fitness routine into it easily and comfortably so you are more likely to stick with it. If you are not the kind of person who can get up early in the morning to work out, then don’t schedule your exercise routine in the morning.
Figure out what time works best for you and start doing 20- or 30-minute chunks at first. If you overdo it, then you might hate working out and then you are more likely to quit.
What Kind of Workout Would You Like to Do?
Make sure to include some kind of cardio workout in your routine and a bit of strength training using your body weight at first and then resistance bands or dumbbells once you acquire them. If you already have equipment ready to go, then that’s great.
Figure out which days you will focus on your strength training and which days will have cardio and then stick to the schedule.
Find Some YouTube Videos to Follow Along
If you don’t like working out on your own, then consider following some fitness gurus or instructors on YouTube. They usually have free videos that you can follow along with, which makes your workout interesting and fun. Or join an online fitness group to get fit at home.
Once You Are Ready, Buy Some Equipment
If you haven’t already, purchase some basic equipment once you are ready for it. Resistance bands and dumbbells are a great start. You can always upgrade to better and heavier weights and equipment in the future or move to work out in a gym once you are ready.
Keep Going – Consistency Is Key Here
Do not quit! Keep going for as long as you can. That is, you want to stay consistent with your workout routine because that’s the only way you will start seeing results.
Start Your Fitness Journey to Gain Health and Fitness
Your fitness journey doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s. Do what you can in the time you can and that’s good enough. As long as you stick with it, you are doing better than most out there.
